We know what you’re thinking. Can’t wait until move-in? We’re not so patient either. That’s why we created a list of only the most important need-to-knows for your upcoming move.

In the meantime, drop us a line if you have any questions or just want to chat. No ridiculously long phone menu when you call us – we promise.

If you haven’t already marked your calendars, grab a pen (or tell Alexa) to take note. Move-in is on August 14, 2024. When you arrive at University House for move-in, please follow the directional signage to check in and pick up the keys to your new home. Read more about your move-in process in the MOVE-IN EXPERIENCE (section below) to check in and pick up the keys to your new home.

If you want to avoid late charges (and who doesn’t?), you’ll want to make sure that your first installment is paid by August 1, 2024. Late charges will apply unless we have received the first installment payment within the two-day grace period (by August 5, 2024). Checks or money orders should be made payable to University House Tempe and can be mailed or brought directly to our office.

You can also pay online through the resident portal using a debit card, credit card or electronic checking transfer, or by automatic recurring charge to your debit card, credit card or bank account. There are no fees when paying from your bank account or by check.


Nothing ruins move-in faster than missing paperwork (trust us). If you haven’t done so already, please submit your guarantor form. We’ll need to approve this before you’re able to move-in. No guarantor? Alternately, you will be required to prepay the final 1½ installments in advance in order to move in, as described in your Housing Agreement.


Please also note that there is a monthly administrative fee of up to $6.00 to maintain your electricity and water/sewer billing, as provided in your Housing Agreement. This amount will be billed with your regular installments. Our billing provider will e-mail statements for electricity and water/sewer billing directly to each resident, but all payments must be submitted to us using one of the payment methods outlined above


It’s probably not something you normally think about, but you are required to have at least $100,000 of liability protection by the time you move in, and throughout your stay with us. This doesn’t cost much, and is designed to protect you if you accidentally cause a fire or flood. As unlikely as that sounds, if something happens, you’ll be very glad to have it. How easy have we made it to take care of this requirement? You don’t have to do anything at all; we’ll automatically charge your account $15 per installment, waive the requirement to provide separate insurance, and buy our own insurance to cover the same risks. If you have your own liability insurance and don’t want to be charged for this, please upload your insurance certificate and we’ll let you know right away if it meets the requirements. By now you’ve figured out there’s always a way to beat the line. And if you haven’t…well, just read below and thank us later.

Click here for the resident portal link and register online. From here, you’ll want to make sure you can answer yes to each of the questions below:

  • Did you make your first installment payment?
  • Did you enter your vehicle information (if applicable)?
  • Did you verify that you have provided us proof of renter’s liability insurance?
  • Did you sign any pending documents?

If you answered yes to all of the above, you’re one step closer to your new views. When you get here, we’ll just need you to sign your key acknowledgement form. Besides that, all you need to bring with you is a valid photo ID (and an appetite—we’ll have snacks waiting for you). Please click here to sign up for a move-in time on your desired move-in date. Moving trucks (U-Haul’s or similar) are not permitted on August 14, 2024 or before. If you choose to bring a moving truck on August 15, 2024, or after, you will not be able to enter our parking garage due to low ceilings. City or ASU parking fees may vary from $2-$4/hr. We will not be able to provide move-in assistance to residents with moving trucks.

On August 11-13 move-in assistance will be provided to those who choose to move-in early. If you choose to move in early you must pay the early move-in fee, sign an early move-in amendment, and select the correct date on the scheduled.

Move-in assistance will not be available on August 14, 2024. Please find a parking space near the community (if applicable) and meet us in our main lobby front desk to check-in.

  • Arrive at your assigned time – you’re getting VIP treatment here, take advantage of it!
  • If you are arriving in multiple vehicles, have all your belongings together as only one vehicle is allowed in the VIP Lane.
  • The driver will need to stay in his or her seat. One person will need to stay to assist in taking your belongings up to you apartment. When the last item is removed, the car will need to be parked off-site. City and ASU parking fees may vary $2-4/hr. Some parking sites offer full day rates. Please note that if a resident signed up for University House garage parking, he or she will be able to pick up the garage remote and permit during the move-in process and can move their vehicle to the UH garage after 5pm their designated move in day. **Any vehicle parking in the UH parking garage must have the proper valid permit.
  • We will assist in unloading each car quickly, and have support on the your floor to help unload your tagged belongings in your room; one person must get out of the car to assist with belongings. Only one person permitted to ease with elevator capacity.
  • We have allotted two bins (22L, 16w X 12.5h) per resident. We are not able to deviate from two bins since other residents will receive the same service.
  • If you have a bike, please bring that separately after you park your vehicle.
  • Don’t over-load boxes; go ahead and pack multiple boxes, we limit the number of bins to two per resident.
  • We cannot move items out of your bedroom – if you bring it, it must fit in your room.
  • Most importantly – clearly label each box with your name, floor, room number and cell phone number… We promise this will make life easier for you in the end.

In order to ensure everyone has a smooth move-in experience, please be sure to follow the check-in times in the MOVE-IN EXPERIENCE section above. We require you to show up during these times so you can take advantage of this VIP treatment.

However, if you need to move-in outside of your provided time, please remember that our move-in team will not be able to assist anyone with unloading items. All residents moving in during the assigned time slots will be moved in at their designated time only as part of the EXPRESS CHECK-IN experience. We really don’t want you to have to wait until the August 14… that pool will be calling your name, so please take advantage of this service we are providing for you so that you can have the best move-in experience possible.


What you take with you matters. To show you how glad we are that you’re here, we’ve put together a master packing list for you. You’ll find everything you need. And then some.

You’ll want to spend some time getting familiar with the Community Policies here. We like them, but then again, we wrote them.  We can also print them out for you if you’re really into that kind of thing.
