We know what you’re thinking. Can’t wait until move-in? We’re not so patient either. That’s why we created a list of only the most important need-to-knows for your upcoming move.

COVID-19 UPDATE

What should I expect on move-in day?

  • The CDC recommends face coverings indoors in certain counties with high community levels of COVID. This information is updated weekly at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/your-health/covid-by-county.html.  If our location is within a county with a high community level on the day of move-in, we will recommend that residents and visitors wear a mask while in indoor community spaces.
  • Let us know if you are not feeling well and need to delay your move-in. Your health and safety, and that of all our residents, are our top priorities

MOVE-IN AND FIRST PAYMENT

If you haven’t already marked your calendars, grab a pen (or tell Alexa) to take note. Move-in is on August 23, 2023. When you arrive at University House for move-in, please follow the directional signage to check in and pick up the keys to your new home. Read more about your move-in process in the MOVE-IN EXPERIENCE (section below) to check in and pick up the keys to your new home.

If you want to avoid late charges (and who doesn’t?), you’ll want to make sure that your first installment is paid by August 1, 2022. Late charges will apply unless we have received the first installment payment within the two-day grace period (by August 3, 2022). Checks or money orders should be made payable to University House Tempe and can be mailed or brought directly to our office.

You can also pay online through the resident portal using a debit card, credit card or electronic checking transfer, or by automatic recurring charge to your debit card, credit card or bank account. There are no fees when paying from your bank account or by check.

GUARANTOR FORM OR PRE-PAYMENT

Nothing ruins move-in faster than missing paperwork (trust us). If you haven’t done so already, please submit your guarantor form. We’ll need to approve this before you’re able to move-in. No guarantor? Sign up with Leap by selecting this option on your application or by calling our office today. Alternately, you will be required to prepay the final 1½ installments in advance in order to move in, as described in your Housing Agreement.

UTILITIES

Please also note that there is a monthly administrative fee of $4.50 to maintain your electricity billing, as provided in your Housing Agreement. This amount will be billed with your regular installments. Our billing provider, Conservice, will e-mail statements for electricity billing directly to each resident, but all payments must be submitted to us using one of the payment methods outlined above.

RENTER’S LIABILITY INSURANCE

It’s probably not something you normally think about, but you are required to have at least $100,000 of liability protection by the time you move in, and throughout your stay with us. This doesn’t cost much, and is designed to protect you if you accidentally cause a fire or flood. As unlikely as that sounds, if something happens, you’ll be very glad to have it. How easy have we made it to take care of this requirement? You don’t have to do anything at all; we’ll automatically charge your account $12 per installment, waive the requirement to provide separate insurance, and buy our own insurance to cover the same risks. If you have your own liability insurance and don’t want to be charged for this, please upload your insurance certificate and we’ll let you know right away if it meets the requirements. EXPRESS CHECK-IN

By now you’ve figured out there’s always a way to beat the line. And if you haven’t…well, just read below and thank us later.

Click here for the resident portal link and register online. From here, you’ll want to make sure you can answer yes to each of the questions below:

  • Did you make your first installment payment?
  • Did you enter your vehicle information (if applicable)?
  • Did you verify that you have provided us proof of renter’s liability insurance?
  • Did you sign any pending documents?

If you answered yes to all of the above, you’re one step closer to your new views. When you get here, we’ll just need you to sign your key acknowledgement form. MOVE-IN EXPERIENCE

Moving is stressful enough. We’re here to help make your move-in easy and seamless. University House has partnered with the nation’s largest professional student move-in company to help make your move-in experience a breeze. So sit back, relax and let USS Cruise Ship Move-in™ do the heavy lifting for you.

USS will be conducting their exclusive Cruise Ship Move-in™; a process created and developed to make your move in day easy and memorable. USS Cruise Ship Move-in™ service mimics the experience of taking a cruise where your belongings effortlessly appear in your room. You’ll have professional movers assisting. Nice, right? Just arrive at your assigned time, and the professional movers will unload your belongings (up to two bins) and transport your belongings to your new home. Any excess or larger items (over two bins) will need to be moved in after 5pm to avoid delays in the move-in schedule.

Moving trucks (U-Haul’s or similar) are not permitted on August 23, 2023. If you choose to bring a moving truck on August 16, 2022, or after, you will not be able to enter our parking garage due to low ceilings. City or ASU parking fees may vary from $2-$4/hr. We will not be able to provide move-in assistance to residents with moving trucks.

MOVE-IN SCHEDULE (required)

In order for Cruise Ship Move-in™ service to run smoothly, you are required to arrive at your scheduled move-in time based on what floor you will be moving into. Your cooperation will allow us to avoid overcrowding and long wait times for elevators… because why would you want to be delayed? Please note that we cannot allow early arrivals on move-in day. Arrive on-time to reduce your wait time, both in the car and in your room. The faster you move in, the faster you’ll be catching rays on our pool deck.

Please reference your apartment number to see which floor you are assigned to, the first digit(s) indicating your floor number… (Ex: Apt#1801 = Floor 18).

HELPFUL MOVE-IN TIPS

  • Arrive at your assigned time – you’re getting VIP treatment here, take advantage of it!
  • If you are arriving in multiple vehicles, have all your belongings together as only one vehicle is allowed in the VIP Lane.
  • The driver will need to stay in his or her seat. When the last item is removed, the car will need to be parked off-site. City and ASU parking fees may vary $2-4/hr. Some parking sites offer full day rates. Please note that if a resident signed up for University House garage parking, he or she will be able to pick up the garage remote and permit during the move-in process and can move their vehicle to the UH garage after 5pm their designated move in day. **Any vehicle parking in the UH parking garage must have the proper valid permit.
  • USS will unload each car in less than 4 minutes, and handle placing your tagged belongings in your room; there is no need to get out of the car. We will sweat the small stuff so you don’t have to.
  • USS has allotted two bins (22L, 16w X 12.5h) per resident. We are not able to deviate from two bins since other residents will receive the same service.
  • If you have a bike, please bring that separately after you park your vehicle.
  • Don’t over-load boxes; go ahead and pack multiple boxes, we limit the number of bins to two per resident.
  • The movers cannot move items out of your bedroom – if you bring it, it must fit in your room.
  • There is no need to tip – University House has covered all your moving expenses. Just (one of the many) an added perk for living with us!
  • Most importantly – clearly label each box with your name, floor, room number and cell phone number… We promise this will make life easier for you in the end.

In order to ensure everyone has a smooth move-in experience, please be sure to follow the check-in times in the MOVE-IN EXPERIENCE section above. We require you to show up during these times so you can take advantage of this VIP treatment.

However, if you need to move-in outside of your provided time, please remember that our cruise ship move-in team will not be able to assist anyone with unloading items. All residents moving in during the assigned time slots will be moved in first as part of the EXPRESS CHECK-IN experience. We really don’t want you to have to wait in line… that pool will be calling your name, so please take advantage of this service we are providing for you so that you can have the best move-in experience possible.
